Who we are

Our team works at Greater Wellington Regional Council, in the Transport Policy and Strategy Division.

We encourage people to think about, and make sustainable transport choices – walking, cycling, taking public transport, teleworking or carpooling to and from work.

We promote sustainable transport choices by co-ordinating annual regional events such as World Car-free Day, as well as Walk to Work and Bike to Work days, and the Feet First Walk to School Every Week programme.

Through our work with employers and local councils we identified a significant need to provide a sustainable transport option for people whose public transport, walking and cycling options were limited. We have developed Let’s Carpool in cooperation with the New Zealand Transport Agency. Let’s Carpool aims to improve traffic flow and reduce vehicle emissions by offering commuters a convenient travel option that reduces transport costs and can be taken up instantly.

We have worked hard to make Let’s Carpool as user friendly as possible and we’re sure you’ll enjoy all the benefits of carpooling.
