You can carpool when it suits you - you may choose to carpool one day of the week or make it your regular commuting option. The choice is up to you - just give it a go to see how easy it can be! 

Auckland Transport supports carpooling as an alternative transport option and has established priority lanes, priority parks and transit lanes for carpoolers to use.

Priority lanes for carpooling

Priority carparks are available for carpoolers to use at the following sites:

  • Albany Bus Station - 45 prority carparks
  • Birkenhead Ferry Terminal - 19 priority carparks
  • Half Moon Bay Ferry Terminal - 18 priority carparks
  • Downtown Carpark - 15 priority carparks on Level 8

Let's Carpool is a free, secure service to help you find carpool matches. Registration is open to individuals looking to find and share rides for their regular commute and for one-off events around Auckland. Auckland Transport also offers a comprehensive service for employers and tertiary institutions interested in setting up workplace carpool schemes.
